Top Five Reasons why All Businesses Need Social Media.
Social media has taken the world by storm. What used to be a way for kids to waste time in class and a way for parents to keep track of their children's antics, has quickly turned into something much larger than that. Social media is still those things, but it is also a very effective way for businesses to market themselves with. Here are the top five reasons why all businesses should be using social media:
It provides a way for businesses to interact with their customers. Before social media, the only way companies were able to hear from their customers, was through less-reliable channels - such as direct mailing them or through email. Social media is perfect for companies to keep tabs on their customer base because customers do not have to go out of their way at all to do so; they are on social media all day anyway, so why not take advantage of that?
Effective use of social media is cheap! Instead of having to spend countless sums of money trying to send customers updates about the business, a savy social media expert can do what they do best and leverage social media for the bettering of the business. With only a couple of minutes here and there through out the day, companies can reach masses of people that was only possible before through expensive advertisement campaigns.
It provides for yet another form of analytics. The acceptance of using social media for business purposes is so widespread, that numerous companies have come up with very in-depth ways to analyze data from their various social media platforms. Some examples of the metrics that companies can keep track up: What time of day are users clicking links in a companies posts? What ages are the majority of a companies followers? After which type of posts do the most people mention the company? Plus many more.
Effective use of social media allows for companies to express a level of humanity. It has been known for a while that people respond better to companies that seem more like real people than large corporations. By interacting with customers and responding to their inquiries in a timely manner via social media, companies simply seem more human - which is hardly ever a bad thing.
The barrier of entry is low. Learning how to effectively use other advertising platforms can in itself be a barrier to use and can deter the possible business owner from leveraging it to the best of their abilities. Managing social media is so simple, that there really is no reason for a small business owner to at least start their campaigns themselves. However, simple as social media may be, once a business reaches a certain point, the amount of time one spends interacting with customer can in itself be a full-time job. At that point, they may want to consider outsourcing the work to focus on other parts of the business that can't be outsourced.
